What is Fashion Week? Fashion week is a week when designers show their latest collections to the public. They mainly happen in the fashion capitals or the BIG 4. There is winter/fall fashion week and spring/summer fashion week where designers show their collections from each season. They regularly happen in February and September/October, of course there are shows happening in other months, but those are the biggest and most important shows (with the biggest designers) Why is Fashion Week important?
Fashion week not only helps designers show viewers and public their new collections, (hoping they will like it and buy it), but it also really helps new designers show their talents and become bigger.
The Big Four
The big four events are Milan, New York, London and Paris (also the four biggest fashion capitals)
1. New York Fashion Week
NYFW started in 1943 by Eleanor Lambeth. Fashion week did exist before, but not in NYC yet. The main modelling agencies are IMG,FTL moda, the SOCIETY fashion week and more.
In 2021 the NYC fashion week happened from September 8 to 12. Its main designers were

London fashion week is organized by the BFC ( British Fashion Council) and the first show happened in October 1983, therefore completing 38 years old in 2021.
London fashion week was the next, happening from September 16 to 21. Its main designers were:

3. Milan Fashion Week
Milan is well known for being a fashion capital, and mfw is the third event of the year, after NY and London.

We all got shocked by the collaboration between Versace and Fendi, two of the largest brands collaborating???!!! Also the collaboration was so good. I loved everything.
We also know how Dua Lipa closed and opened the show, which caused the fashion side of social media to explode. Some people loved it, some people hated it, some people said she should have asked Gigi Hadid ( her boyfriend's sister) to help her and some people said she rocked on one of them and failed the other, but it was her first show, They didn’t really like how she walked and how at the end she stuck her tongue out for a photo. Milan Fashion week HISTORY
The first Milan fashion week took place in 1958. It was hosted by Camera Sindacale della Moda Italiana which was later changed to Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. It was the second fw made in the big 4.
4. Paris fashion week
Paris fashion week is the last of the events. Some of the main designers are:

Paris fashion week DRAMA
As we all know, fashion isn’t all fun and games and luxury. Many brands use child labor and kill animals to make that pretty fur coat. One of the brands that kills animals is in fact the well known Louis Vuitton, which, as a result of their actions, received several criticisms. To show her dissatisfaction, an activist invaded the show, walked on the runway with a sign that said: consumption = extinction. This shocked many people, including the viewers of the show, and they had to get a guard to tackle her and remove her from the show.
Paris fashion week HISTORY
Paris might be seen as the city of love, but it is also one of the most important cities of fashion. Fashion week was, in fact, created in Paris by designers trying to show their art. It started in public places and slowly started getting larger and becoming events of their own.
Best shows
Although each show was amazing in their own way, here are some of the bests (in my personal opinion)
Versace
I love Versace, I love how colorful and alive their clothes are, and this season was so good.
And as we all know, central saint martin students got to talk to Donatella herself (i am jealous).

Versace X Fendi
This collaboration was in fact one of the smartest things in fashion history. Mixing two of the biggest fashion brands??? Oh my gosh.
They called the collection Fendace and gave off a more chic and wintery vibe, there was way less color then the usual yet it was so chic and nice.
Molly Goddard
I will admit, I had no clue of what and who Molly Goddard was before I did the research for this article. I feel like this one is controversial, since the brand mixed things that would be seen as a disaster, but personally I loved it.
MIU MIU
For anyone who has absolutely no idea of what miu miu is, it is a designer brand by the creator of prada, that is meant to target younger audiences (teens, young adults etc). I love the brand, of course its nowhere as iconic as prada, yet I think its a smart marketing way to make a new brand for younger people.
