MMA is a rapidly growing sport in 2025, and the biggest organization of this sport is the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). Throughout all of its history, Brazilians achieved a winning record with various champions and ranked fighters. Amongst them are Charles (Du Bronx) Oliveira, Alex (Poatan) Pereira, Alexandre (The Cannibal) Pantoja, and Johnny Walker.

Although the sport’s popularity was rising on the global stage, the performances of Brazilian fighters had been disappointing. Before the 23rd of August, Brazil held a losing streak of nine in main event fights, not having won in 2025. Some of these losses include Charles (du Bronx) Oliveira to Ilia (El Matador) Topuria, and Alex (Poatan) Pereira to Magomed Ankalaev, both being title fights. The so-called Brazilian curse worried MMA fans around the world. However, on the 23rd of August, Johnny Walker, a huge underdog, faced the Chinese prospect Zhang Mingyang and beat him in a huge upset knockout win.

The breaking of the Brazilian curse shifted the rhythm of Brazilian fighters in 2025. After Johnny Walker's win, on October 4th, another Brazilian would fight a main event title dispute. It was Alex (Poatan) Pereira's rematch against the Russian Magomed Ankalaev, but this time, the belt returned to being green, yellow and blue. The Brazilian finished the fight early with a first-round technical knockout, regaining the belt and title as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world.

Only one week later, fan favourite Charles (du Bronx) Oliveira, now nicknamed Charles (the Predator) Oliveira, also went back to the winning record in the main event of a fight night card, submitting the polish Mateusz Gamrot in the second round.

The future now is looking bright for Brazilian MMA fighters. Alexandre (The Cannibal) Pantoja, the flyweight champion, has another title defence scheduled against the young Joshua Van and is looking to challenge Demetrious (Mighty Mouse) Johnson for the status of best flyweight in history. Furthermore, after his dominant win against one of the most exciting fighters in the lightweight division, Charles challenged the BMF title holder and Hawaiian native Max (Blessed) Holloway to a fight next year at the White House on the Fourth of July. Another fighter hopeful of participating in the White House card is Alex (Poatan) Pereira, who called out one of the most infamous fighters in MMA history-American Jon (Bones) Jones-to a fight at the White House. Both fights are very exciting, and if they do end up scheduled for the White House event, the USA better be ready, because the Brazilians are planning a Brazilian takeover.
