Day 2: TWO GAMES, TWO STORIES

From the very beginning, it felt like the game was ours to control. Even while adjusting to key absences, our Hawks stepped onto the court with intensity, quickly finding rhythm through aggressive defense and fast transitions. With Massi in goal delivering one save after another, diving, blocking, and even risking injury to keep the team ahead, EABH built confidence early on. Rafa Tinti opened the scoring, followed by a well-constructed play finished by Luigi, giving the Hawks a deserved 2–1 lead by halftime.

The team was not only ahead on the scoreboard, but also in presence. Defensive pressure from Rafa, smart positioning from Filipe and Bretas, and Heitor’s constant movement into attacking spaces made it clear that EABH had both the structure and the momentum to win. However, the second half told a different story.

As the game grew more intense, the Hawks began to rush their decisions, trading composure for urgency. Despite continued individual efforts, with Massi pushing through injury, crucial defensive plays, and moments of brilliance from players like Heitor and Luigi, small gaps started to appear. PACA capitalized on those moments with efficiency, turning the game around through a penalty and quick attacking combinations, and what once looked controlled slowly slipped away.

With just minutes remaining, PACA extended their lead to 4–2, closing a game in which EABH had shown more than enough to win, but could not maintain control when it mattered most. It was not a lack of effort, talent, or determination, but rather a reminder of how quickly futsal punishes even the smallest loss of focus. However, at the end of the day, this loss doesn’t diminish the effort and amazing plays our Hawks showed on the court.

In contrast, if the futsal match was defined by what slipped away, the girls’ volleyball game was defined by everything that came together. Facing ISC, expectations were cautious, but from the very first serve, they shifted completely. Bruna and Nina set the pace early with strong serves and immediate pressure, forcing a timeout within minutes as EABH quickly built an 8–0 lead. From that point on, the LadyHawks didn’t just play well: they dominated!

With consistent serving, disciplined defense led by Mariana and Alice, and a relentless offensive presence, EABH controlled every aspect of the game. Julia Jorge stood out with a powerful and consistent attacking streak, while players like Summer and Julia Ribeiro added variety with blocks, tips, and smart ball placement that kept ISC constantly off balance.

The first set closed comfortably at 25–12, and although ISC attempted to respond in the second set, briefly narrowing the gap, EABH regained control with composure. Even in moments where focus seemed to slip, the team reset quickly, relying on strong communication and collective confidence to maintain their advantage.

By the end of the match, the result was clear: a 2–0 victory that not only exceeded expectations but also reaffirmed the strength and identity of the team. For the third time in a row, the LadyHawks secured a dominant win, proving that sometimes the games you doubt the most become the ones that define you.
