Endless Wishes

I wish I could live forever,

I wish I had never been born,

We all wish for things that are clever,

Not knowing the power of what we scorn.

I wish for company at all times,

I wish to be alone at the end of these lines.

It is an interesting pattern of dissatisfaction,

But to the things we already have, we don’t feel attraction.

Always too blind to notice,

Always too proud to admit it—

Admit that all of us are too arrogant to appreciate even a little bit,

Of what we receive from our loved ones while we do nothing but sit.

I wish I was more like her,

Sometimes I wish she wasn’t there—- so things could go how they were

Wishes are not true—,

That is a valuable truth I give today to you,

So instead of wishing endlessly,

For things that are about to change coincidentally,

One smart skill to develop is appreciation,

Imagine yourself without the ones who  help you with their dedication,

Look around to admire—

And to realize that you have more valuable gifts than you desire.
