Today, September 27th, marked the official start of the ISSL ceremonies. The Pep Rally filled the gym with enthusiastic, motivated and confident students! Speeches by EABH’s own team captains drove lower schoolers crazy and made seniors tear up. Coaches and athletes were introduced to the school with the glory they deserve.
After high fiving an extensive line of very excited (and screaming) kids, the athletes kicked off games with a friendly basketball competition, girls versus boys. Teams lined up and each player was supposed to get their own shot into the basket a few times. The team to complete this sequence the fastest would win: the boys won!
The celebration ended with the singing of the traditional “We will Hawk you” chant, alongside an emotional group hug involving all the athletes: a genuine example of the friendship they all share in and out of the courts. EABH’s staff and students all proved to be very thrilled to root for them throughout the next few days. Go Hawks!
