Hawks Close AASB with a Soccer Victory and Historic Basketball Silver

The Hawks’ final day at AASB began early, with Lady Hawks soccer taking on the ISC Wildcats in their last match of the season. EABH made the most of that final appearance, earning a 5-2 victory led by three goals from Emanuelle. Captain Helena Dias opened the scoring with a powerful shot from outside the box, while senior Laura Calixto also found the net in her farewell to the NR soccer fields. Scoring her last goal for the Lady Hawks and helping secure one more win made the morning especially meaningful for Laura and the teammates who have played alongside her.
The match also brought the final season of seniors Carol Bonato, Helena Pelli and Summer Rose to a close. Their commitment to the Lady Hawks over the years deserves recognition beyond the final score, and finishing the tournament with a win gave the team one more moment to celebrate together before saying goodbye to this senior group.
Later that day, attention turned to the basketball court for a final that already carried enormous significance to EABH before it had even begun. For the first time in school history, the Hawks had reached the boys basketball championship game, where they would face the Graded Eagles. A young team with strong chemistry, EABH had fought hard to get there, and the final demanded another difficult battle against a physically strong opponent. The tension lasted throughout the game as the Hawks worked to challenge the Eagles, competing with the determination that had carried them through the tournament. Graded ultimately secured the win, but EABH finished with silver, giving Coach Fred and the school every reason to be proud of what this group had accomplished.
For senior captain Chase and fellow senior Massi, playing in that historic final was a memorable way to close their time with the Hawks. Their contributions goes well beyond this tournament: through years of commitment and leadership, both have helped shape the team, setting an example for the younger players who will continue representing EABH next season.
The closing ceremony brought everyone together once more to recognize the tournament’s athletes. Dudu Albergaria received the boys basketball MVP award, while Helena Dias earned MVP honors in girls soccer. Bernardo Veloso was recognized with the basketball Sportsmanship Award, and Summer Rose received the same honor in soccer, adding individual recognition to a day that had already given the Hawks plenty to celebrate.
Finally, with the awards presented, the season was officially over. EABH left NR with a final soccer victory and its first boys’ basketball silver medal, closing a tournament that presented close games, memorable performances and a chance to watch teams make school history. For the seniors, it marked the end of their last AASB; for the teammates returning next year, their leadership, moments and memories shared on these courts and fields will remain part of what they carry forward.
