As the final page turns,

I hear the sound of a goodbye.

The book is done,

But the words still scream.

The book is closed,

But my hands won't let go.

I feel the characters in the space between my fingers,

Their voices fill my mind,

Their dreams are now my dreams.

It feels like a goodbye,

The story stays,

But I can't go back,

As much as I want,

I'll never have the same feeling,

I had for the first time.

Not gone, but out of reach,

And all that is left are memories.
